Benjamin Andres's story

Meet Benjamin Andres!

He is a young farmer known for his hard-work and responsibility in his community of Zapallal, East Panama. His region has been historically excluded from basic financial services, limiting the opportunities for farmers like Benjamin Andres.

Following his entrepreneurial spirit and the sustainable farming techniques he has learned thanks to his ancestors, Benjamin Andres plants corn, rice, sweet potato and papaya. Apart from this he also raises pigs and goats to provide for his young family.

Today Benjamin Andres is applying for his first Kiva loan to farm rice, corn, and papaya following sustainable farming practices. With the funds from this loan he will buy seeds, equipment and employ young farmers for the planting season.

Thank you for supporting financially-excluded farmers and helping farmers like Benjamin Andres generate jobs and opportunities in remote rural regions of Panama.
