The woman standing at the far right of the photo is the representative of this group. Her name is Chung and she is a Thai ethnic minority woman. She is married and has only a son who graduated from high school and is currently working as a hired laborer. Her small family lives in an old stilt house in Dien Bien province, where agriculture is the main source of income.
Chung cultivates rice and raises some farm animals to earn a living. She was proud of having many years of rearing many of fish on her farm, so she decided to get a loan from the Anh Chi Em program (ACE) to invest in purchasing and raising fish.
Chung hopes that her experience combined with the technical support from the ACE means the investment will be profitable to pay for her family’s living costs.
