Dios Proveerá Community Bank In Cerro Bonito's story

Cerro Bonito is a small community that is populated mostly by farmers in rural Honduras. Dios Proveerá Community Bank in Cerro Bonito is a small community-owned, women-led banking cooperative that was founded by strong women leaders of this town. It has been a tremendous tool for empowering women and local farmers. This association, enables members of the community to have savings, take out small loans, and gain financial literacy through regular training. Most people in this region have been historically excluded from traditional banks, but the community-owned bank provides members with financial inclusion in their own community.

Dios Proveerá Community Bank in Cerro Bonito requested another loan that will be used to provide working capital to the bank's farmers, who are preparing their land for the next planting season and need agricultural equipment. This community bank has repaid punctually their previous loans, showing the responsibility and commitment of the members.

“This loan is an opportunity for us to grow our microenterprises and agriculture, and give our families a better future,” says a community bank member.
