Christine's story

Christine is a 41 year old mother of five children, four of whom are school going. She is married, living with her husband who is also a farmer in the rural areas of Mbarara. Her town is very small with the main income coming from agriculture and small-scale businesses. Christine grows crops: beans, millet, maize, and coffee. She also has a retail shop selling home use assorted items, matchboxes, sugar, bread, among other. She has had low sales due to limited stock.

Christine is applying for a loan to buy more bags of sugar, rice, boxes of soap and other items which will boost her sales. She hopes increasing her stock will increase her income and this will help her cater for family expenses.
