Rosenda
A loan of $3,250 helps to buy traditional costumes in different styles.
Rosenda's story
Rosenda is 47-years-old, married and the mother of 12 children (12 to 22 years old). Her youngest son is in third grade and her eldest children have studied through ninth grade. She grew up in a humble household and, because she was a woman, could only attend school for two years.
In order to earn an income for her household Rosenda started a business eight years ago. She buys and sells traditional costumes which consist of fabric for a skirt "corte", blouse "huipil" and waistband "faja". She works at home and makes deliveries and also sells at the local market.
Rosenda currently wants to take advantage of the year-end festivities and use an individual Kiva loan to buy different styles and colors of regional outfits to meet customer demand. She hopes to earn more income, have a stable business and eventually open her own shop.
Rosenda is a Spansih-speaking woman from the department/state of Suchitepéquez. In the Puente de Amistad's Bridge to Success Program, Rosenda participates in different technical training sessions to acquire more knowledge. The themes covered are establishing inventory, selling on line, offering optimum customer service and managing different expenses. These skills will surely help Rosenda to be successful.
Thank you, Kiva lenders.
