Slivia
A loan of $550 helps to buy more sodas, beers, energy drinks and water for her pub.
Slivia's story
Slivia is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children, 1 of whom is currently in school. For the past 10 years, Slivia has been working hard to manage her bar, in which she sells liquor and also has rental units.
To help expand her business, Slivia has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more sodas, beers, energy drinks and water, and will help Slivia to generate greater profits and increase her income.
Slivia hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
