Josephine
A loan of $425 helps to purchase enough weaves and hair lotions.
Josephine's story
Josephine is 45 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children. For the past 16 years now, Josephine has been working hard to manage her beauty salon, where she plaits hair and does hair treatments.
To help expand her business, Josephine has requested a loan of 1500000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase enough weaves, hair lotions and hair treatment to attract more customers, and which will help Josephine to generate greater profits as well as improve on her family standards of living by providing them with enough food and clothes.
Josephine hopes that in the future, she will be able to build rental units for business. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
