A loan of $550 helps to pay for labor to help her husband harvest kava in their field.
Liana's story
Liana is married and a mother of six children, three who still attend school. Others finished school and some got married while one son stays with them. This family consist of nine members. They all work hard to provide for the family. Liana's husband grows kava in their own field as the only source of income for her family.
They harvest the kava which goes straight to the warehouse where it's changed to a kava powder. After that, they put the kava powder into plastic bags to sell. They prefer to send their kava powder overseas for marketing but in time of need for some money they sell it locally.
