Milly
A loan of $1,375 helps to purchase enough patterns of clothes for making new dresses.
Milly's story
Milly is 45 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children with 3 of them currently in school.
For the past 4 years, Milly has been working hard to manage her tailoring business, sewing clothes for sale. To help expand her business, Milly has requested a loan of 5,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase enough patterns of clothes for making new dresses for sale. This will help Milly to generate greater profits, improve her family's standard of living and provide enough food for her family. Milly hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build her house.
She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Milly, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
