Carlota Janeth

Carlota Janeth's story

Carlota is 34 years old. She lives together with her family in the parish of Cahuasqui in the Urcuquí area of Ecuador’s northern Imbabura province.

Carlota has farmed family land from a young age. At the moment she’s growing pole beans and strawberries. She also works as a day labourer on neighbouring plots when she doesn’t have any work on her own plots. This work has allowed her to earn an income to support her home.

Carlota has asked for a loan to buy manure and fertilizer, and to pay for labour to care for her strawberry and pole beans crops. This season has been dry and it’ll require a lot of careful work to get a quality product to sell at a good price at the market.

Carlota is very grateful for the support she’s had as her crops are her main source of income, bringing stability to her family.
