Isiah
A loan of $425 helps to access quality farming inputs and services.
Isiah's story
Isiah is a 30-year-old maize farmer in Kaduna, Nigeria's northern state. He grows maize and other crops to support his family. Maize farming is the primary source of income in his community. Like many other farmers in his area, the income he earns from farming is insufficient to improve his family's standard of living. Isiah is married and has three children.
Babban Gona will provide him with high-quality inputs, which will allow him to increase his yields. As a result of the training programs, Isiah will be able to farm more sustainably. For example, his fertilizer training will emphasize micro-dosing fertilizers to reduce environmental impact while increasing yields. Isiah expects 40 bags per hectare from this year's harvest, which is double the national Nigerian average of 20 bags per hectare.
Isiah is seeking an increased loan so that he can lease more land and expand his farming business. Babban Gona will provide him with higher-yielding seeds, fertilizers, and herbicides that will improve his farming operations and increase his yield, thus allowing him to earn up to two times the average annual income of a Nigerian farmer. Isiah intends to put his proceeds to build a better house for his family.
