Ana Gloria Camey's story

Used clothing, as well as used toys, from the United States often are resold in other countries like Guatemala. Forty-three-year-old Ana started her used-toy business seven years ago in the department/state of Sacatepéquez. She sells from a rented space and is able to earn enough income to support her household, as well as cover the educational expenses of her three children who range in age from sixteen to twenty-four. Her goal is to expand her inventory and buy more used toys. This is why she is requesting her first Kiva loan. She has planned ahead to the end-of-year holidays and wants to have plenty of inventory available. Her future plan is to open another branch of her business and attract new clientele.

The “Bridge to Success” program from Friendship Bridge gives women like Ana intensive business training to help them meet their goals. A technical advisor meets with her every fifteen days and helps her become a more successful and empowered entrepreneur. Topics like planning, budgeting, customer service and using technology are tremendously useful for Ana.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for helping women like Ana improve their quality of life, develop their businesses and empower themselves!
