José

José's story

José is an experienced farmer from Contadero, Nariño, with 34 years of experience. He manages a one-hectare plot where he has planted over 6,000 coffee plants along with eucalyptus trees, which help maintain soil moisture, creating a favorable microclimate for coffee. José harvests his crops every three weeks, obtaining more than 500 kilos of coffee that he processes in a small plant he built several years ago. However, the limited space of this plant makes it difficult to properly handle the coffee during the drying process.

José is a single father and lives with his son in a house built in the middle of his land. His son attends the local school and helps him with agricultural tasks in the afternoons.

A loan of 3,736,435 COP allows José to purchase materials to build an additional processing shelve. This will improve the efficiency and quality of the drying process, optimizing coffee handling.
