A loan of $525 helps to buy tobacco leaves.
Elisa's story
Elisa is 51 years old and has one dependent. She and her family live in the province of Leyte. To earn an income, Elisa sells organic cigarettes (from dried leaves of a java plum tree - known as lomboy to locals - and tobacco leaves). She has been in this business for three years.
Now, Elisa has requested the amount of PHP 30,000 through Kiva's field partner CEVI, a microfinance NGO, in the Philippines. She will use this loan to buy tobacco leaves.
Elisa dreams to expand her business in the future for a better means of living.
